• Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is a low-risk, in-office procedure with no downtime to help regrow hair.
  • Many studies have demonstrated the efficacy and safety of PRP treatments for hair restoration. It has been shown to increase hair count, hair thickness and overall hair growth. One study conducted by the National Institutes of Health demonstrated that PRP injections led to an increase in hair density and improved hair restoration and satisfaction in over 70% of participants.
  • Dr. Ansell and Dr. Chima are experts in PRP therapy and have extensive experience treating patients with PRP. They perform all patient hair loss consultations and the procedures themselves.
What to Expect:
PRP therapy is a simple in-office procedure which takes a total of around 15-20 minutes. First, a standard blood sample is taken and placed in a centrifuge. This separates the plasma from the red blood cells, concentrating the platelets into PRP, which has a high concentration of growth factors. The scalp is cleansed with an antiseptic solution and the plasma is then injected throughout areas of increased “scalp-show” or areas of thinning.

How many Treatments?
We recommend a series of 4 treatments about 1 month apart from each other. If PRP has been shown to be successful, some patients may continue with maintenance treatments 4-6 months after the last treatment.

Downtime:
None. Your scalp will look normal after treatment and you can continue with normal activity post-treatment.

When do you see results?
A patient may notice results as soon as 2 treatments but typically by treatments 3 or 4. The hair should continue to grow for months following treatment so the best results may be seen 6 months following treatment.

Is PRP Safe?
PRP is made up of components of a patient’s own blood, so there are very few risks associated with it when performed by a medical professional.
