Dermatology is the field of medicine that deals with conditions of the skin, hair, and nails. Dermatologists are medical doctors, who pursue an additional 3-year course of study after medical school and after general residency in a university-approved dermatology residency that focuses on these areas. Board certification means that the doctor has passed a rigorous specialty examination, which includes clinical dermatology, pathology, and basic science.

As busy general dermatologists, our doctors see a wide variety of skin conditions that require constant use of their medical knowledge and surgical skills. They consult with each other when dealing with challenging patient problems to allow patients to benefit from their combined experience. When necessary, skin biopsies or removal of lesions are easily performed in our office facility with maximum patient comfort
In addition to medical and surgical dermatology, each of our doctors has areas of special interest that give our patients access to particular expertise, whether it be pediatric dermatology, contact allergy, cosmetic dermatology, laser surgery, or skin cancer surgery. In addition, as physicians affiliated with New York-Presbyterian/Columbia, we have a network of outstanding colleagues and subspecialists to whom we refer patients, when appropriate.
